[texts]Service Oriented Speech Control Robot System - ZHU Qingbo, Liu Yaohe, Song Tingxin
A distributed remote speech control system based on Web Service was introduced. The system enables the transition of an inbound call via telephone into robot commands by the speech recognition engine and TTS speech synthesis engine and with the Web Service components, then the system transmits the real-time command into a robot and after receiving and recognizing the command, the robot moves its arm accordingly so as to achieve the goal of controlling the robot movement...

[texts]Marathi Isolated Word Recognition System using MFCC and DTW Features
This paper presents a Marathi database and isolated Word recognition system based on Mel-frequency cepstral coefficient (MFCC), and Distance Time Warping (DTW) as features. For the extraction of the feature, Marathi speech database has been designed by using the Computerized Speech Lab. The database consists of the Marathi vowels, isolated words starting with each vowels and simple Marathi sentences...

This film describes the state of the speech recognition project as of Spring, 1969. A discussion of the problems of speech recignition is followed by two realtime demonstrations of the system. The first shows the computer learning to recognize phrases and the second shows how the hand-eye system may be controlled by voice commands. Commands as complicated as 'Pick up the small block in the lower lefthand corner', are recognized and the tasks are carried out by the computer controlled arm...

[texts]Tractable Pareto Optimization of Temporal Preferences - Morris, Robert
This paper focuses on temporal constraint problems where the objective is to optimize a set of local preferences for when events occur. In previous work, a subclass of these problems has been formalized as a generalization of Temporal CSPs, and a tractable strategy for optimization has been proposed, where global optimality is defined as maximizing the minimum of the component preference values. This criterion for optimality, which we call 'Weakest Link Optimization' (WLO), is known to have limi...

[texts]A Novel Method for Speaker Independent Recognition Based on Hidden Markov Model
In this paper, we address the speaker independentrecognition of Chinese number speeches 0~9 based on HMM.Our former results of inside and outside testing achieved92.5% and 76.79% respectively. To improve further theperformance, two important features of speech; MFCC andcluster number of vector quantification, are unified togetherand evaluated on various values. The best performanceachieve 96.2% and 83.1% on MFCC Number = 20 and VQclustering number = 64.

[texts]Laser anemometry close to walls - Smart, Anthony E
Some advantages of transit anemometry for measuring close to walls and in periodic flows are demonstrated. The unquestioned superiority of this approach for flare rejection does not necessarily lead to longer measurement times. The more complete data gives 2-D velocity probabilities and shear stresses in places not easily accessible by standard techniques. Gated measurements are shown for nonstationary situations such as rotating machines and other cases not easy with backscatter fringe anemomet...

A copolyimide was prepared by reacting 3,4'-oxydianiline (3,4'-ODA) with a dianhydride blend comprising, based on the total amount of the dianhydride blend, about 67 to 80 mole percent of 4,4'-oxydiphthalic anhydride (ODPA) and about 20 to 33 mole percent of 3,3',4,4'-benzophenonetetracarboxylic dianhydride (BTDA). The copolyimide may be endcapped with up to about 10 mole percent of a monofunctional aromatic anhydride and has unbalanced stoichiometry such that a molar deficit in the dianhydride ...

[texts]Fuel containment, lightning protection and damage tolerance in large composite primary aircraft structures - Griffin, Charles F.
The damage-tolerance characteristics of high strain-to-failure graphite fibers and toughened resins were evaluated. Test results show that conventional fuel tank sealing techniques are applicable to composite structures. Techniques were developed to prevent fuel leaks due to low-energy impact damage. For wing panels subjected to swept stroke lightning strikes, a surface protection of graphite/aluminum wire fabric and a fastener treatment proved effective in eliminating internal sparking and redu...

[texts]Method and apparatus for detecting laminar flow separation and reattachment - NON
The invention is a method and apparatus for detecting laminar flow separation and flow reattachment of a fluid stream by simultaneously sensing and comparing a plurality of output signals, each representing the dynamic shear stress at one of an equal number of sensors spaced along a straight line on the surface of an airfoil or the like that extends parallel to the fluid stream. The output signals are concurrently compared to detect the sensors across which a reversal in phase of said output sig...

[texts]Effect of Time Derivatives of MFCC Features on HMM Based Speech Recognition System
In this paper, improvement of an ASR system forHindi language, based on Vector quantized MFCC as featurevectors and HMM as classifier, is discussed. MFCC featuresare usually pre-processed before being used for recognition. One of these pre-processing is to create delta and delta-deltacoefficients and append them to MFCC to create feature vector. This paper focuses on all digits in Hindi (Zero to Nine), whichis based on isolated word structure...
